Moo Jun Jie UI/UX Designer
About

I design clear, considered interfaces for the moment they can help most.

I’m Moo Jun Jie, a UI/UX designer based in Kuala Lumpur. I completed a Diploma in Multimedia Design at TAR UMT in 2026, interned at an XR studio as a Design Intern (UI/UX), and led a four-person team to build Nudge, my final year project.

(01) ApproachOne thread through the work

I look for the moment an interface can help, and design for that moment.

In Nudge, it’s the seconds before a BNPL checkout. In the MyXR Lab dashboard, it’s the moment an admin needs to know exactly what they can and can’t do. In the VR/MR course, it’s a learner meeting complex machinery for the first time.

So I focus on making a system legible at the right moment: showing consequences, naming boundaries, and layering complexity so it’s easy to hold in mind.

(02) ProcessFour questions, every project

Research first, then clear decisions.

01

What is actually being asked for?

Feedback often points to a deeper need. I look for the business or human reason underneath it, write it down, and confirm it before designing.

02

What can I learn from the competition?

I run teardowns along named axes — layout, hierarchy, noise, iconography, colour — so every strength and weakness is specific and usable.

03

What is the one real constraint?

Permissions, cognitive load, trust, a physical limit. When I can name the constraint in one sentence, the research has done its job.

04

Does it hold up in real use?

Readable inside a headset, consistent across six flows, and clear when a colleague places it in a deck at a different size. That’s how I check my work.

(03) ToolsWhat I work in

Figma for the interface, and the tools around it.

Design & prototyping
  • FigmaAuto-layout, variables, component libraries, interactive prototyping, dev handoff
  • Adobe IllustratorLogo and identity, vector systems, print production, die lines
  • Adobe PhotoshopImage manipulation, compositing, retouching
Motion, spatial & delivery
  • 3ds MaxBasic 3D modelling, lighting and rendering
  • Spatial UI for VR/MR and UnityPanels and screens designed for headset and Unity builds, handed to developers to implement
  • CapCut ProNarrative editing, effects, sound
  • HTML / CSSI designed and built this site, and can read and adjust front-end code

2026

Final Year Project · Nudge

A behavioural finance app for Malaysian youth. As project lead of a four-person team I led UI/UX and brand identity: six Figma flows, the colour system, logo and identity, and the A1 exhibition poster. Nudge case study →

Jan – Mar 2026

Design Intern (UI/UX) · Virtualtech Frontier Sdn Bhd

Visual Experience Design division, supervised by a senior designer. Two XR products: I mapped the admin UX for MyXR Lab, with separate flows for the platform admin and the institution admin, and wrote PRD sections and designed the VR/MR interface for a TVET electric-vehicle course — dialogue system, layered exploration panels, info and hint UI, drag-and-drop assessment. I also produced client work for Dynatrace and EcoShop, and a lesson deck and badges for UOB My Digital Space. Twelve weeks, documented weekly. MyXR Lab case study →

2024 – 2026

Diploma in Multimedia Design · Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology

Coursework across interface design, instructional design, web design, typography, 3D, 2D animation, video production, photography and digital illustration. Interface Design (AKMD2114) produced the Orenda homestay app, my first UI/UX project. See Orenda →
